Feisal Abdul Rauf: The Imam behind the controversial plan to build a mosque near ground zero
Americans are compassionate and sensitive people. Americans support a person’s right to practice the religion of their choice.
Americans don’t care if there are thousands of cathedrals, churches, chapels, temples, and synagogues spread across our great nation. Americans don’t care if there are thousands of mosques across our land, or that there are over a hundred around New York City.
Many Americans served in our military protecting freedom of religion. The families, friends and Americans that support our military also support their mission.
It is what compassionate and sensitive people do.
But polls indicate about 70% of Americans question the motives behind building a mosque near the hallowed Ground Zero. Many are the same Americans that never questioned the placement of a mosque before. But are now asking, “why at Ground Zero?”

A cherished gift we assumed our government would protect.
We were wrong.
Each day, the ideology of the Obama administration carves away at our liberty as big government intrudes deeper into our lives. But liberty is not all that government has whittled away. Government has also lost respect and tolerance for Americans with differing viewpoints.

Rauf is ramming his Sharia Law-encased thumb deep into the eye of many Americans by a attempting to build a mosque near Ground Zero.
Rauf says the mosque will show that Islam is a religion of sensitivity and compassion. Yet what could be more insensitive than a mosque on hallowed ground where nearly three thousand Americans were killed by Islamic terrorists?
