With no record of achievement, what qualifies this government to run our health care?

The course of one’s professional career is predicated on accomplishment.  Achievement and success are prerequisites to assuming greater responsibility.

After all, we wouldn’t hire a plumber with no references or a history of substandard, above cost work to replace all the pipes in our home.   We want the plumber that’s demonstrated the integrity and ability to tackle significant tasks.

In our professional lives, achievement matters.

The exception is the Obama administration.

When I can find one, I ask supporters of President Obama’s attempt to place our health care system under government control a simple question.

After a year, what specifically has our president done that can be qualified as a success?”

Has our president lived up to his promise to operate the most transparent administration in history?

Our president said the stimulus was necessary to keep unemployment under 8%.  If our president understands how to create jobs, why is unemployment at 9.7%?  What did he get wrong?

Is our president right to continue to press on with his costly Cap and Trade policy even though there is mounting evidence the science is flawed?

Was our president right when he decided terrorists should be given the same Constitutional rights as any American?   Was he right when he said the trials for 9/11 terrorists should be held in New York City?

Let’s review a very simple issue.  Was our president right when he rushed to say the police “acted stupidly” after they arrested one of his friends?  Our president admitted he wasn’t there and didn’t know the facts.  Was he right to condemn the police for doing their job?

What has the Obama administration done right?”

What gives you the confidence this administration is capable of taking over our complex health care system?”

The silence is often deafening.

Yet through legislative trickery, double talk, back door deals, strong arming and skirting the Constitution, this administration will most likely do just that – commandeer our health care system.

I reviewed their performance over the past year, and like the substandard plumber, this administration is not qualified to assume control of health care.    I know it, and so do the majority of Americans that oppose the government take over.

Federal government at its best is bloated and costly.  I don’t know of a major project managed by the federal government that wasn’t mired in bureaucracy, waste, fraud and placed on the precipice of bankruptcy.

Why should anyone assume this version of government is different?   The way this administration piles up debt and spends taxpayer dollars, it’s more costly and irresponsible even by government standards.

So again, why should we trust our health care to this administration?

Anybody have an answer?

Do you find comfort when House Speaker Pelosi says, “We need to pass the bill so that everyone can find out what’s in it.”

Maybe you trust Vice President Joe “we need to spend more to get out of bankruptcy” Biden.   Biden told Chris “I got a thrill going up my leg” Matthews that most Americans opposed government-controlled health care “because it’s complicated.”

I take exception when our gaffe-prone vice president insinuates I’m too stupid to understand what is good for me – and that only Washington knows.

And as is often the case, Biden is wrong.

Americans do understand enough about the bill.  It’s horribly flawed.  It will add to the debt.  It will increase taxes.  It will result in rationing.  It will force many with private coverage to the government plan.

People understand this bill is an attack on our liberty and freedom.  It’s why people are forming in the streets of D.C. to protest as I type.

And I can see why President Obama is not a fan of Fox News.  He’s apt to be asked questions more compelling than “what’s your favorite color?”

During his recent interview with Fox News Bret Baier, our president was pressed on parts of the health care bill.  President Obama became frustrated that Baier had the audacity to ask specific questions.   So our president side-stepped and offered talking points, but no real answers.  I wonder if he knows what’s in the bill.

President Obama did say this bill is great for the economy.  Really?  Then why is the largest manufacturer of construction machinery, Caterpillar, saying the bill will cost the company $100 million in the first year alone?  Does it sound like Caterpillar is ready to hire?

But I doubt it matters.

For this is not about health care.  It’s about ideology.  About Obama’s legacy.  He’s made it personal.  He has pitted a majority of Americans against government.

And stop the nonsense about this being a racial issue.   Polls indicate a majority of Americans don’t want government taking over health care.  It is our president and his administration that is thumbing their collective noses at the people.  And skin color has nothing to do with it.

But know this.  Our president will stop at nothing.  The Slaughter Solution.  Deemed to pass.  A vote without a vote.  Reconciliation.  Pass it now so that taxes can be collected immediately even though supposed benefits don’t start for four years.

Tell me, when was the last time you purchased something, started paying for it, but did not get to use it until four years later?

The fact is this bill will expand government exponentially.  And the bill is laden with additional taxes.  Most everything, from savings to investments, will feel the wrath of government controlled health care.
And if you fail to meet whatever government decides then the IRS will be there to take from you.  Ever had a disagreement with government even when you were right?  How did that work out?

It’s too kind to call this the “wealth redistribution” that candidate Obama promised.  Wealth takes on the connotation of riches.  This is garnishing of the earnings resulting from the sweat of our brow.

And once government takes control it does not relinquish it.

Come tomorrow (Sunday March 21, 2010) the Obama administration stands a good chance of seizing control of our health care.  They will spit at the Constitutional challenges certain to come and instead call it “a great day for America.”

Yet in reality, we have entered one of the bleakest periods in the history of our nation.  We are one step closer to socialism.

And if we forget come next November – then shame on us.Your Vote Counts

God Bless our troops in harm’s way.

I was rather embarrassed for the President yesterday as I heard him on the radio chanting like a cheerleader at GMU. He is very un-Presidential to me, but I do appreciate his passion (better than not caring at all) as misguided as it happens to be. He is a great motivational speaker and his talents would be better served on circuit with Tony Robbins.

While the other party can’t claim to be what it once was, we as voting citizens do have a chance to use them at the next election to inflict the will of the people. Wipe out the current group and bring in the fresh blood to modify the health care damage that will be done. Note I didn’t say delete it all, but modify. We do need health care reform, but we need it to be on a much more fair and even playing field for all instead of the current welfare approach.
